Welcome to Mattone Music Productions, namely the fake society led by me, Mattia Merlini, with the aim of producing and promoting my musical activities as a solo artist and film composer.

I am a musicologist, composer and musician from Italy, but actually I don't like to be defined by any of these labels. In fact, I am a music lover that can't help but studying and making music in different ways. Everything I do is, after all, an expression of love towards music, be that epistemological or aesthetical. I have been playing the piano since I was 12 or so, but I actually dropped training quite long ago, as I began my journey in the world of universities. The same goes with guitar and bass, which I never actually studied. So I am basically a self-taught musician doing things with music, always eager to try new solutions and techniques to express myself and my love for music.

But I am not very good at monogamy: music is not the only one owning a place in my heart. Cinema is another passion of mine, and so I am often involved in the production of short and long films. Although I tend to partecipate in several stages of the productions, my main interest is, of course, making the soundtrack. And that's what I occasionally do since 2012! Philosophy is the third big love of my life, but that is a story for another time, I guess. Oh, I also love videogames and hope someone will ask me to compose something for their game, one day.
